It happens all too often.
It is a beautiful day. Jane is taking her dog Fluffy for a walk.
As she passes her neighbor's house, she hears the sound of a dog barking inside.
"What the heck?!" Jane says to herself. "Didn't the people that lived here move out two days ago? Didn't their house go into foreclosure? What on earth is a dog doing inside the house?!"
Jane does the only thing she knows to do. She calls the number on the sign in front of the house. The sign that belongs to the real estate agent.
Thus, all over the country, real estate agents are becoming reluctant "warriors" in this war where our furry friends are getting caught in the crunch.
Real estate agents who already have more problems than they can possibly handle in this horrendous real estate market.
They "rescue" the dog or cat - or dogs and cats as the case often is - and begin the arduous task of trying to find a home for the furry little friend they have just saved. They call on their friends, their neighbors - anyone they can think of who might be able to help.
The situation seems hopeless.
They don't know where to turn. They need help. They need information. Sometimes they need money to help cover veterinarian expenses they are ill-prepared to handle.
Their last resort is to take the pet to the local animal shelter. They don't want to as they know that the shelters are already overflowing with furry little creatures - wonderful, adoptable dogs and cats, puppies and kittens who are losing their lives every day because there simply aren't enough homes.
RealtorsForPets.com was established to help these soldiers on the front lines of this war against our furry friends. Moving is a high risk time for even the most beloved pets. We want to help.
Although pet abandonment has been a problem for years, it has gotten much worse in recent months.
Won't you help us help them?
Started by two friends in northwest Atlanta – Gina Carr and Kristen Butler - who were brought together by their love for animals, RealtorsForPets is looking for people - especially those engaged in the real estate industry - to help spread the word that about this terrible problem and to help animals in need. Specifically, we are looking for people who will....
- help us market the pets that are in need of a new home by putting pictures on your websites, at the bottom of your emails, on your bulletin board at your office, etc.;
- be part of a transportation network to move pets to their new homes by driving an hour or two as part of the journey to safety and love; and
- be part of a network of real estate professionals that exchange marketing tips, successful business practices and LEADS based on a love of animals.
You can help. Together, we can make a difference.
If you'd like to make a difference, just type your name, your zip code and your primary email address below....
Thanks for taking steps to help end the destruction of adoptable pets!

Gina,
I think that you and Kristen are doing a wonderful service for wo/man's best friend. You must be a very caring and creative lady to have initiated RealtorsForPets. My hat is off to you.
