Cricket - sweet senior girl, perfect companion

Senior dogs make such loyal, loving companions.  Cricket needs a loving home. Her owner passed away Oct. 29. She is about 10 years old and is a sweet dog. She had 1 litter of pups when she was about 2 and was spayed afterwards. She hasn't had vaccinations in a very long time.  My mom would groom her and trim her fluff. She hasn't been groomed since about July. She is sweet and gets along well with the other dogs. She would sleep in at night and go outside in the daytime. She is good-natured and does not jump up on people. She loves to be talked to and would love attention.

Urge BLM to Postpone Roundups

Dear Shawn,

Horse advocate Madeleine Pickens' non-profit organization, Saving America's Mustangs, has a proposal to help wild horses, and save taxpayer dollars. She's offered to take in more than 2,000 wild horses scheduled to be permanently removed in late January from the Antelope Valley Herd Management Complex in Nevada.

Please urge the BLM to accept Madeleine Pickens' generous offer and immediately postpone the scheduled Antelope Valley roundup so that Mrs. Pickens and her staff have time to prepare the facilities to care for these horses. Thank you for all you do for wild horses.

Help Georgia Humane Win A $5,000 Grant!

Hello GHS Friends!

Vote for Georgia Humane Society at www.theanimalrescuesite.com and we could win grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to help Georgia's homeless pets.

The Animal Rescue Site is hosting a special challenge for eligible rescue groups. The grand prize is a $5,000 grant, and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups with the most votes — a total of $300,000 in grants for animal welfare organizations.

The Georgia Humane Society is a non-profit rescue group that believes in the "No Kill" animal welfare movement, meaning that all adoptable animals are rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed.  We work hard every day to rescue animals, educate the public, promote spay/neuter, and work with the community for a more pet-friendly Georgia.

Think how many animals we could help with $5,000!

  1. Visit www.theanimalrescuesite.com
  2. Click "Shelter Challenge" on the far right hand side menu
  3. Search "Georgia Humane"
  4. Vote and Confirm!
  5. Forward this email to friends and family and remember to vote daily!

You can vote everyday and each vote gets us one step closer to receiving a grant!  Please forward this to any animal loving friends as we could use all the support!

For our furry friends,

Georgia Humane Society

Success Story - Olivia

So often, we are promoting the latest need.  I just wanted to tell you a little about a special girl that Realtors For Pets helped save a while back......

This was Livvy aka Olivia aka "The Dog that Could Leap Small Buildings with a Single Bound." Livvy falls into the "I Should Have Known Better" category. Note: to rescuers: If the shelter run has a sheet on the top, think twice before rescuing. LOL. After months of training, redoing my fences and working the internet, I found her a new foster mom who owned an agility business. Last I heard, Livvy was amazing the crowds at fly ball events all across Canada.
Much thanks to Angie Woods of www.uscanine.com
